Sharing the beauty of nature and literature

Creative Cross Stitch and Needlework Design

Join me in my journey, designing needlework patterns that evoke the soft focus of vintage styles, inspired by period literature, poetry, and love for nature

A true country gentlewoman is accomplished in many things. She is educated, and widely read. Not just the “book of the month,” but across the great works of literature. She runs her household and other enterprises with grace and intelligence. Classic skills include things like fine needlework, cooking, baking, and preserving, and observing the natural world.

Here, you’ll find needlework patterns that reflect these skills and inspirations. And, if you’d like to pursue some of those other skills as well, I’ll point you over to the Brambleberry Meadow – where I share other things like recipes, practical skills, and some of MY observations of the natural world around me.

Meet holly

Meet the bookworm, needle-wielder, chief cook and bottle washer at The Country Gentlewoman’s Studio. Mom taught me the gentle arts of sewing and embroidery when I was young, and I’ve worked to expand those skills ever since. She’ll deny being an artist – but she taught me that, too.

I’m a firm believer in the idea that working with the hands soothes the soul. And I’m a lover of classic literature, too. So in my designs, I’ll try to offer the sort of beauty and peace found in those things. I hope you enjoy them.
